  The nature scenery of West Virginia and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. The starting location is a short drive from Morgantown, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Deckers Creek in Preston County is 1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking
    you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time
outdoors have a lot of people coming here. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Masontown to Preston County line stretch is just one of them. This is a very short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because  
these hotels fill up quick.

Briefly about the general area:
A spree to Deckers Creek wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Mayfield Spring. Here at Deckers Creek there are plenty of folks from Masontown, and a short visit to Maiden Spring is always worthwhile. This river is a great place to visit. The amount of precipitation that falls at Deckers Creek is close to the national average. The month of July is the wettest with most of the rain; February meanwhile is the driest month. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Deckers Creek. Summer night lows descend down to the 50's.
