This section of Greenbrier River in Greenbrier County is 9.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in West Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that many runs in this state are very easy. is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. No shortage of good hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is not the only paddling section
| in this river system, there are others too. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. The starting location is a short drive from Blacksburg-Christiansburg-Radford. The campgrounds here at Greenbrier River are pretty good.

Moncove Lake State Park is both wonderful and lovely, and it's right next door to Greenbrier River, and you'll meet a lot of people from Ronceverte here. Greenbrier State Forest is a great location to go to on a lovely day,
and the Youngs Nature Trail is a good hiking trail nearby. This river is so good. There is a tremendous hiking trail near Greenbrier River called the South Boundary Trail. Greenbrier River sees pretty high levels of precipitation.
July is the month that gets the most rain, and January is the month with the least moisture. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Greenbrier River, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's.
