The FS 51 to Island Campground stretch of Greenbrier River - East Fork is 5.1 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Pocahontas County and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up |
sleeping in your car. The put-in location is a short drive from Staunton-Waynesboro, as you can see on the road map further down. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number
| of good rivers. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in West Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too.

the general area: Here at Greenbrier River - East Fork there are plenty of folks from Bartow, and Monongahela National Forest is a beautiful place any time of year. Go for a hike on the Hinkle Run Trail; there are tremendous
spots to look at along the East Fork Trail. If you come to this river you will have a good time for sure. Lots of precipitation falls at Greenbrier River - East Fork. Of all the months in a year July is the one with the
most rain, and the driest month is February. At Greenbrier River - East Fork during the warmest time of the year highs are in the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's.
