  The FS 51 to Island Campground stretch of Greenbrier River - East Fork is 5.1 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Pocahontas County and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up
    sleeping in your car. The put-in location is a short drive from Staunton-Waynesboro, as you can see on the road map further down. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number
of good rivers. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in West Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too.

Here at Greenbrier River - East Fork there are plenty of folks from Bartow, and Monongahela National Forest is a beautiful place any time of year. Go for a hike on the Hinkle Run Trail; there are tremendous spots to look at along the East Fork Trail. If you come to this river you will have a good time for sure. Lots of precipitation falls at Greenbrier River - East Fork. Of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is February. At Greenbrier River - East Fork during the warmest time of the year highs are in the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's.
