  This stretch of Laurel Creek - Cherry Tributary is 5.3 miles long and is a class III+(V) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Nicholas County and the water flowing gracefully down Laurel Creek - Cherry Tributary make the trip here worthwhile. If you're coming from Oak Hill it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t
    get lost. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both,
doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling rivers. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside West Virginia you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. There's camping available near Laurel Creek - Cherry Tributary. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Jetsville to Fenwick  
stretch is just one of many. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip.

Briefly about the general area:
The Perry Ridge Trail is a glorious hiking trail in close proximity to Laurel Creek - Cherry Tributary; folks from Richwood love to come here. There is a good hiking trail next to Laurel Creek - Cherry Tributary called the Hinkle Branch Trail. Laurel Creek - Cherry Tributary is a pretty wet place frequently with a lot of rain. July is when you get the most rain here; the driest month of the year is January. Summertime highs at Laurel Creek - Cherry Tributary mostly tend to be in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's.
