The wonderful West Virginia scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. The
    Route 41 bridge at Kathryn to New River/Sandstone section of Laurel Creek - New River Tributary is 5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V section of whitewater. For all you camping people there
are campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room  
before you come because it is a very popular destination.

Bluestone State Park is a wonderful place, and Dark Hollow is also a great place to discover. A journey to Babcock State Park rejuvenates the soul, and this is a popular place for folks from Sandstone. Lots of fun awaits you along this river.
