  The scenic beauty of West Virginia and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in West Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The Rt. 68 to Route 26 section of Little Sandy Creek in West Virginia is 9.3 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. A good workout and just hanging out
    with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This river system has a few good
paddling sections and the Rt. 68 to Route 26 section is one of them. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The put-in location is a short drive from Morgantown, as you can see on the road map further down.

Take a hike on the Mile Trail, and if you're going to from Bruceton Mills, you won't be the only one. Have a nice hiking adventure along the Great Gorge Trail. Little Sandy Creek is a good place of typical rainfall. Most of the rain falls throughout July while February is mostly the driest month. Throughout the summertime, highs generally are in the 80's at Little Sandy Creek. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows at Little Sandy Creek through the wintertime frequently descend into the 10's.
