The average West Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. of Meadow River is 5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V+ section. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. On this section you do get some distance,
| you can easily run it on an afternoon. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. campgrounds here at Meadow River are pretty good. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here.
Briefly about the general area: The Way
Back Trail is a great hiking trail close to Meadow River, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Pillow Rock Rapids. If the weather is tremendous here at Meadow River, you can go for a hike along the Carnifex
Trail; this is a popular place for folks from Mount Lookout. At this river you will always have a good time. Don't leave Meadow River without going to Hawks Nest State Park; a visit to Meadow River wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Lost Paddle Rapids.
