  This stretch of Mill Creek - New River Tributary in West Virginia is 2 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V+ section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of West Virginia and the cool fresh water have people coming here. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you've
    been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners. And of course, there are
campgrounds nearby. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Oak Hill, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. This stretch is short so better bring some good walking shoes.

is a popular thing to do around Mill Creek - New River Tributary; Way Back Trail is a wonderful local trail. Places like Hawks Nest State Park are tremendous to explore, and Bluestone National Scenic River is one of the destinations that are wonderful to pop by close by. This river is so perfect. Babcock State Park is a good site to stop at, and Mill Creek - New River Tributary is a site with many visitors from Ansted. There's glorious hiking along the Carnifex Trail. The high level of rain makes Mill Creek - New River Tributary a quite wet location. Through July this area sees the most rain; February is when it's the driest.
