The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. There are so many     sections to paddle in this river system, the Bluestone Dam to Sandstone section is just one of many. There's camping available near New River. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. The wonderful Summers/ Fayette/ Raleigh County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch of New River in West Virginia is 11 miles long and is rated by American   Whitewater as a class I-III(IV) section. Briefly about the general area: New River is not far at all from Lindside; Brooks Falls is always fun to check out. Going to Bluestone State Park next to New River is a magnificent thing to do, and you could always discover Collins Hollow. This river is so good. Little Beaver State Park is a fine spot to stop by on a pretty day. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to New River with nighttime lows in the 50's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's while New River overnight low temperatures through the winter are in the 10's.
