The put-in location is a short drive from Oak Hill, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in West Virginia are often more forgiving than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers in this state are less demanding. Scenic River is no exception. Everybody loves Babcock State Park; during your tour here you'll meet some folks from Fayetteville for sure. If you come to this river you will have a good time for sure. Hawks Nest State Park
is a glorious place; there is a nice hiking trail nearby called the Carnifex Trail. During the warm months, highs commonly are in the 80's at New River.
