The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in West Virginia are often easier than in other states, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. And of course, there are     campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Morgantown, as you can see on the road map further down. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Briefly about the general area: Good hiking is available along the Otter Creek Trail, and a splendid spot nearby is Devils Gulch. There's   good hiking along the Green Mountain Trail, and the cheerful folks of Hendricks like to hang out close by. This is a really good river. A visit to Blackwater Falls State Park when you're here at Otter Creek is a wonderful idea; the snow is nice at Canaan Valley. Otter Creek gets much water. The month with most of the rain is July, and the driest of the months is February. For the period of the warmest time of the year at Otter Creek temperatures are usually in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Otter Creek.
