The put-in location is a short drive from Beckley, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch of Paint Creek in Fayette County is 4.1 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III+ section by American Whitewater. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that     can be paddled as well. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There's camping available near Paint Creek. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside West Virginia you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. Briefly about the general area: Big Hollow is a great place to have a look at near   Paint Creek, and lots of people from Kincaid come here. A tour to Bluestone National Scenic River is recommended, and Hawks Nest State Park is a delightful spot to stop at on a delightful day. This river is always fun. Through the summer highs here at Paint Creek get into the 80's. Summer night lows descend down to the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Paint Creek. Paint Creek is a wet location that gets a good deal of precipitation. Of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is October.
