The nature scenery of Fayette/ Kanawha County and the cool fresh water beats anything. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Oak Hill, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. | Creek in West Virginia is 6.4 miles long and is a class II-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too.

Paint Creek is not far at all from Powellton, and Bluestone National Scenic River is a great location nearby. High temperatures at Paint Creek throughout the warmest time of the year are in the 80's. When the night sets
in temperatures fall down into the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Paint Creek temperatures plunge to the 20's. Paint Creek frequently gets a great deal of precipitation.
The month of July is the wettest with most of the rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
