If you're coming from Beckley it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Some people     prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Beckley to McCreery section is one of them. The wonderful Raleigh County scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in West Virginia are often more forgiving than in other states, so don't forget that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available   very near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: Bluestone National Scenic River is one of the destinations in the neighborhood of Piney Creek that are great to go to. Babcock State Park is a glorious site; a delightful location to have a look at is Cyclone Hollow. This is a great river. Little Beaver State Park is a great place to explore, and this is a popular site for folks from Glen Morgan. Winterplace is a great local ski area. Piney Creek sees pretty high levels of rainfall.
