  The Hopeville to Confluence of South Branch section of Potomac River - North Fork of South Branch in West Virginia is 6 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. If you're coming from Harrisonburg
    it's not a long drive at all to the starting location. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. You might be into
whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. The natural beauty of West Virginia and the water flowing gracefully down Potomac River - North Fork of South Branch have  
people coming here. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people.

Near Potomac River - North Fork of South Branch you stumble on the North Mountain Trail which is a fine hiking trail, and Canaan Valley has great slopes and a friendly staff. Going for a hike on the Boars Nest Trail is always a fine adventure, and while you're here why not check out Roy Gap. The surroundings of this river have so much to offer. While you're here at Potomac River - North Fork of South Branch you will meet lots of people from close by Seneca Rocks, and no need to travel far to have a look at attention-grabbing stuff like Seneca Rocks.
