The put-in location is a short drive from Harrisonburg, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia are easier than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. This stretch of Potomac River - South Fork of the South Branch in West Virginia is 12.2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. For all you camping |
people there are campgrounds nearby. The beautiful scenery of West Virginia and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system,
| there are others too. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here.
