If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside West Virginia you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so better not forget that rivers in this state are less demanding. The natural beauty of Jefferson County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream      attract people from near and far. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The starting point is not too far from Hagerstown-Martinsburg, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. This is a somewhat short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The West Virginia 9 to Millville section   is one of many paddling sections in this river system. Briefly about the general area: Shenandoah River is not far at all from Charles Town It's always perfect to explore Johnson Springs. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail; don't leave Shenandoah River without first paying a visit to Wilt Farm Spring. This river has so much to offer. The Loudoun Heights Trail offers hiking at its best, and a visit to Appalachian National Scenic Trail is worthwhile. Shenandoah River gets a normal amount of rain. May is the wettest month with most rain; the driest month is January.
