  The average West Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so don't forget that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. This section of Stony River is 6.7 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. Since you're on this site you are probably
    into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing
to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. The nature scenery of West Virginia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Route 50 to North Branch of Potomac River stretch is one of them.

Here at Stony River there are plenty of people from Kitzmiller. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Stony River, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Stony River are in the 10's. All the water falling down from the sky makes Stony River a wet place. The wettest month of the year is frequently July, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is February.
