  The wonderful Webster County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. If you're coming from Clarksburg it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. Some people prefer whitewater
    rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. The Confluence of Little Sugar Creek to confluence of Back Fork of Elk section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system.
The Confluence of Little Sugar Creek to confluence of Back Fork of Elk stretch of Sugar Creek in West Virginia is 1.8 miles long and is a class II-III(IV) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you  
might find the rivers here more forgiving, so better not forget that rivers in this state are less demanding.

Briefly about the general area:
At Sugar Creek you always meet someone from Bergoo, and don't leave Sugar Creek without first going for a hike along the Tramontane Trail. Going to Holly River State Park close to Sugar Creek is a good thing to do, and you can go for a hike on the Wilderness Trail. This river is a great place to visit. Summertime highs at Sugar Creek commonly tend to be in the 80's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Highs through the winter are usually in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Sugar Creek.
