  The US 50 Close to Pleasantdale to confluence of North River stretch of Tearcoat Creek is 3.9 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The beautiful scenery of Hampshire County and the water flowing gracefully down Tearcoat Creek are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The nearby hotels are
    a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking
there are lots of good places for that around here. This is a short paddling stretch so no need to bring snacks. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Winchester, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in West Virginia are often easier than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state  
are less demanding. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.

Briefly about the general area:
A short tour to Harding Spring is always worthwhile, and Tearcoat Creek is a location with many visitors from Augusta. At Tearcoat Creek throughout the summer months highs are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 60's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are typically in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Tearcoat Creek temperatures dip to the 10's. A normal amount of rain falls here at Tearcoat Creek. All through the month of July you get the most rain around here, and the driest of the months is February.
