West Virginia whitewater, Tygart Valley River

Randolph Barbour county, Aggregates to confluence with Beaver Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II-III+     8.4 miles
The put-in is not too far from Morgantown, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. This section of Tygart Valley River is 8.4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III+ section. Since you're on
this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Aggregates to confluence with Beaver
Creek stretch is just one of them. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. The beautiful scenery
of Randolph/Barbour County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle.

Briefly about the general area:
Go for a hike on the Pheasant Mountain Trail, and Denver Lee Shomer Spring is a beautiful place to check out while you're at Tygart Valley River. Going for a hike on the South Haddix Trail is always a great adventure, and Town of Junior Spring is a great local attraction. This river is a wonderful place to visit. The wonderful people of Belington like to hang out nearby, and of course, everyone loves Audra State Park.
