This section of Wolf Creek in West Virginia is 2.1 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V+ section of whitewater. If you're coming from Oak Hill it's not a long drive at all to the starting location. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are no other stretches to paddle along Wolf Creek than |
the Reservoir to New River stretch. The beautiful scenery of Fayette County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. The average West Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking
| river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. This is a somewhat short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. | |
|
And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: All our national parks are wonderful spots to pop by, and Bluestone National Scenic River is no exception. Long Point is close at hand
and always tremendous to check out, and Babcock State Park is a nice location to visit. This is such a great river. Near Wolf Creek you come across the Carnifex Trail which is a good hiking trail, and you'll meet a lot of
folks from Fayetteville here. Hawks Nest State Park is a pretty place any time of year, and while you're here why not visit Toney Hollow. Wolf Creek sees pretty high levels of rainfall.
