The put-in is not too far from Eau Claire, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road
map further down the page. The scenic beauty of Wisconsin and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. The Beaverdam Lake to Highway 13 stretch of Brunsweiler River in Ashland County
is 10.3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III+(IV) section of whitewater. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
The wild scenery of the Gogebic Range is great. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camp stove. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Wisconsin you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners.

Briefly about the general area:
Copper Falls State Park is both wonderful and striking, and it's in the neighborhood of Brunsweiler River, and if the weather is pleasant, you can go for a hike along the Great Divide Snowmobile Trail.
