Went too Eau Claire, neat little waterfall below dam. Had to park away from where you put in. Dag kayaks to the no loading unloading zone that is paved, weird place this whole area is. Float to take out down stream. Neat float in the little down town area. Saw Eau Claire river where it enters the Chippewa. No rapids to speak of just shallow areas that look sorta white, seems if you have long hair and out of state plates you're just about |
under arrest in this whole area. Never seen so many peace officers in my life. Only time on the whole trip we felt relaxed was 3ish miles of the coast by Bayfield Wisconsin. Whole place is a police state. All the guide books
| hype Wisconsin. I will stay in big sky country, where one can least feel sorta free. It's the middle of winter and just reviewing where I was on my travels. Have a bad taste of the whole area , thank you. Says Floatfishpaddle
The scenic beauty of Eau Claire County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. If you're coming from Eau Claire it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the | |
|
area there's a road map further down the page. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a pretty small number of paddling places. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking
river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. This stretch is very short so you'll have to walk back to
the start over and over. No shortage of good hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
