Says Kathy Hanson This stretch of Morrison Creek in Wisconsin is 5.3 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from La Crosse, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The beautiful scenery of Jackson County and the water     flowing gracefully down Morrison Creek will make you feel great. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The average Wisconsin whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the South Cemetery Road to Bottom Road landing stretch is one of them. A good workout   and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Briefly about the general area: Black River State Forest is a great place to stretch your legs a bit, and Morrison Creek is not far at all from Merrillan. Hiking along the Silver Mound Trail is splendid fun. From a precipitation point of view Morrison Creek is a pretty common place. The month with most of the rain is September, and February is when it's the driest.
