Launched in downtown Pewaukee. We ended up carrying our kayaks from south of I-94 to the Fox river. Says Matt Kayaked Pewaukee River to Fox River 6/30/10. Large tree completely blocking river just after you launch at Pewaukee Rd. Need to portage around. Other trees down along river that you need to maneuver past. Water is high and running fast. I tipped over twice but was able to stand and pull my kayak     to the side and dump the water. Have fun! The Pewaukee to Waukesha section of Pewaukee River is 1.6 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Milwaukee-Waukesha-West Allis, as you can see on the road map further down. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're   all set. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Wisconsin tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This is a short paddling stretch so better bring some good walking shoes.
