  The natural beauty of Marinette County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This section of Pike River in Marinette County is 3.4 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Wisconsin is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. No matter if you're whitewater
    rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to
put-in a few times. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you're coming from Marinette it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The to Barker Road section

Briefly about the general area:
The cheerful people of Amberg like to hang out close by, and Norway Mountain has great slopes and a friendly staff. Pike River gets a normal amount of annual rain. During September this area sees the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. At Pike River all through the summer months highs are in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Pike River.
