The put-in location is a short drive from Iron Mountain, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beautiful scenery of Wisconsin and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. There     aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The Highway 55 to Chipmunk Rapids stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. This stretch of Pine River in Wisconsin is 22.2 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according   to American Whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Briefly about the general area: Nicolet National Forest is a pleasant location to stop by, and folks from Long Lake love to come here. Ski Brule is a very popular ski area close at hand; going for a hike on the Lauterman Trail is always a fine adventure. This river is so good. Summertime highs at Pine River mostly tend to be in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Pine River are in the 0's.
