Wisconsin whitewater, Pine River Florence county, Goodman Grade to Highway 101 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     9.2 miles   This stretch of Pine River is 9.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. The put-in is not too far from Iron Mountain, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one,     but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Wisconsin are easier than the national norm, so better not forget that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The nature scenery of Wisconsin and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Briefly about the   general area: Don't leave Pine River without first going for a hike along the Lauterman Trail; during your tour here you'll meet some people from Fence for sure. Bewabic State Park is a great spot to go if you're at Pine River. High temperatures at Pine River throughout the summertime are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. During the wintertime highs are commonly in the 10's with temperatures at Pine River dipping down into the-10's through winter nights. The amount of precipitation that falls at Pine River is close to the national average. Of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is February.
