The beautiful scenery of Florence County and the water flowing gracefully down Popple River attract people from near and far. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so don't forget that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. And of course, there are campgrounds     nearby. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. This section of Popple River in Wisconsin is 10.2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Briefly about the general   area: Here at Popple River you'll most likely meet some folks from Fence; hiking is a popular thing to do around Popple River; Dendro Eco Trail is a wonderful local trail. Good hiking is available along the Lauterman Trail. Throughout the warm days of summer at Popple River highs are ordinarily in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. Highs during the winter are usually in the 20's; overnight lows in the-10's for Popple River. Popple River is a good site of typical precipitation. Through September this area sees the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
