This stretch of Skillet Creek in Wisconsin is 1.8 miles long and has been determined by American     Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. This is a somewhat short section so no need to bring snacks. There are many good hotels to choose from, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The wonderful Sauk County scenery and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. There's camping available near Skillet Creek. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Briefly about the general area: Take a hike on the Bluff Trail, and a spree here wouldn’t be complete without a visit to nearby Devil's   Lake State Park. Skillet Falls is a stunning place to go to while you're at Skillet Creek. Christmas Mountain is a great local ski area; a fine place like Mirror Lake State Park is too great to leave out. Skillet Creek is in a good location in the shadow of the South Range, and Skillet Creek is not far at all from Baraboo. Hiking along the West Bluff Trail is delightful fun. A normal amount of rain falls here at Skillet Creek. September is the wettest month with most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest. For the duration of the summertime months highs here at Skillet Creek get into the 80's.
