Water levels must be high to do the Upper Totogatic. Otherwise you'll be dragging your canoe over rocks. But it's very wild and remote. | The campgrounds here at Totogatic River are pretty good. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. The natural beauty of Wisconsin and the cool fresh water beats anything. time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Eau Claire, as you can
see on the road map further down. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Totogatic Flowage to Colton Flowage stretch is one of them.
Briefly about the general area: You're sure to encounter
some friendly people from Springbrook here. When you're here at Totogatic River it's always fun to stop at Brule River State Forest. Through the summer months at Totogatic River highs are ordinarily in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's.
