Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Wisconsin are easier than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. The Prairie     du Sac stretch of Wisconsin River in Sauk County is 0.1 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is very short so no need to bring snacks. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. This is one of a small   number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Briefly about the general area: Really tremendous skiing awaits you at Devils Head, and going for a hike on the Grottos Trail is always a splendid adventure. When you're here at Wisconsin River it's always fun to check out Natural Bridge State Park; since you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Prairie Du Sac. This is a great river. Go for a hike on the East Bluff Trail; Devil's Lake State Park is both great and pretty. From a rain point of view Wisconsin River is a rather typical site.
