Wyoming whitewater, Bitch Creek Teton county, Headwaters to state line section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.     Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Wyoming is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. The beautiful scenery of Teton County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for     more. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Jackson, as you can see on the road map further down. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The campgrounds here at Bitch Creek are pretty good. The Headwaters to state line stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. Briefly about the general area: Grand Targhee has great slopes and a friendly staff; you can go for a hike on the Poacher Trail. Don't leave Bitch Creek without first going for a hike along the North Bitch Creek Trail. It is very dried up here at Bitch Creek   mostly. The month of January is the wettest with most of the snow while July is regularly the driest month. Through the warmest time of the year at Bitch Creek highs are generally in the 80's while overnight lows are mostly in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's; during the dark hours in the winter at Bitch Creek temperatures fall to the 0's.
