  The Wheatland No. 3 Reservoir to Tunnel Road section of Laramie River in Albany County is 17 miles long and it is classified as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. The put-in is not too far from Laramie, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The scenic beauty of Albany County and the water flowing gracefully down Laramie River make the trip here worthwhile. If you're a camper you can camp at
    one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. The Wheatland No. 3 Reservoir to Tunnel Road stretch is one of a few
paddling stretches in this river system. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camp stove.

It
 
is very arid here at Laramie River frequently. During May this area sees the most rain, and February is when it's the driest. Throughout the summer months at Laramie River temperatures are generally in the 80's while nighttime lows are frequently in the 40's. Through the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 30's, and overnight lows through the wintertime for Laramie River tend to be in the 10's.
