  The wonderful Wyoming scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. This section of North Platte River in Wyoming is 5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-V+ section of whitewater. The starting location is a short drive from Casper, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking,
    either way around here you won't find a large number of other rivers. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The average Wyoming whitewater rafting or kayaking
river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you  
come because it is a very popular destination. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.

Briefly about the general area:
Swede Spring is a lovely site to explore while you're at North Platte River, and folks from Alcova love to come here. Summertime highs at North Platte River mostly tend to be in the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 50's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 30's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at North Platte River sink into the 10's. Not much rainfall falls here at North Platte River. The month with most of the rain is May; the driest of the months is January.
