The South Park Bridge to Astoria Bridge section of Snake River in Teton County is 9 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III section. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The wonderful Wyoming scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river
| system, there are a few others too. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The put-in location is a short drive from Jackson, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. | |

This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip.
Briefly about the general area: Snake River is right next door to Bohnetts Canyon which is unquestionably worth taking a look at, and if you
like skiing, you're in luck; Snow King is pretty near. You're sure to run into some friendly folks from Jackson here. Don't miss out on a tour to Grand Teton National Park since you're here at Snake River, and there is a
magnificent hiking trail nearby called the Granite Highline Trail. Going for a hike on the Stewart Trail is always a good adventure. High temperatures at Snake River through the months of summer are in the 70's.
