This is not a suggestion for the Snake River.
I suggest adding some rivers not on the Wyoming page. First is the Bear River that flows out of Utah into Evanston, Wyoming. This is a good class II or III- at high flow right around the city. It has a kayak park with some decent named rapids such as Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, and the Bear Paw. The flow is typically in May and June.
I have not rafted the Salt River in Afton, Wyoming, |
but it is a known river in that area.
I have packrafted the North Fork of the Buffalo and the Buffalo near Jackson. This is near packrafting perfection. About a 5 mile hike and a 10 mile raft. Class III June-August.
There
| is also the Pacific Creek near Jackson. Says John Williams
West Table to Sheep Gulch is only 8 miles. Early summer it takes 1 hour to run the section, late summer, about an hour and a half. Says TB
The distance from west table to sheep gulch is not 30 miles and can be run multiple times in a day. Also, this stretch can be much harder than class three at high river flows. Says KC
The put-in location is a reasonable drive | |

from Jackson, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Snake River in Wyoming is 30 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. The natural beauty of Wyoming
and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the West Table Dock to Sheep Gulch section is just one of them. For all you camping
people there are campgrounds nearby. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
