Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state     is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The nature scenery of Alaska and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The river winds through the Chugach Mountains and you get great scenery. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all   set. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Chugach Outdoor Center; Carter Lake Trail is a nice local trail.
