The beautiful scenery of Archuleta County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. There are many good hotels to choose from, but do book a room before you come because it is a |
very popular destination. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The starting location is a short drive
| from Durango. When you're paddling down a San Juan and Jemez Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here.
Briefly about the general area: Why not take a refreshing hike along the Martinez Creek Trail, and a trip to Canyon REO wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Hot Springs. Whohoo, so many | |
|
exciting things in one place! The San Juan and Jemez Mountains is unbeatable! Take a hike on the Fourmile Stock Trail, and while you're here, you might as well stop by Horse Gulch. This river is always fun. Canyon REO is
not far at all from Pagosa Springs; a short visit to Pagosa Springs is always worthwhile. Canyon REO is pretty dried out regularly. August is the month that gets the most rain; the driest month is June. Summertime brings
highs in the 80's to Canyon REO while nighttime lows are commonly in the 40's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Canyon REO are in the 0's.
