The put-in location is a short drive from Bend. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Central Cascade Range scenery is wonderful. There's camping available near High Country Expedition. The natural beauty of
    Oregon and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few
of the sections here are not easy. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that.

Briefly about the general area:
Belknap Hot Spring is a beautiful site to go to while you're at High Country Expedition. If the weather is splendid here at High Country Expedition, you can go for a hike along the Saddle Trail, and you'll probably meet some people from Blue River here. This river is
 
always fun. A short trip to Hot Spring is always worthwhile, and on a glorious day you can take a hike along the Frissell Point Trail. For the duration of the long summer days at High Country Expedition highs are typically in the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and nighttime lows at High Country Expedition throughout the winter ordinarily sink into the 20's. High Country Expedition sees pretty high levels of rainfall. For the period of the month of December you get the most rain around here, and July meanwhile is the driest month.
