If you're coming from Roseburg it's not a long drive at all to the starting location. The wonderful Oregon scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have
    a lot of people coming here. The wild scenery of the Central Cascade Range is great. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. If you're a camper
you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Oregon are often tougher than in other states, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners.
