If you're coming from Hood River it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, and if you make     reservations in advance you're all set. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The campgrounds here at ON the Edge Adventures are pretty good. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. When you're paddling down a Central Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The scenic beauty of Oregon and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Briefly about the general area: On a pleasant day at ON the Edge Adventures you can take a   hike along the West Zigzag Mountain Trail, and no need to travel far to have a look at exciting stuff like Crutcher Bench. That right there is heaps of exciting things already but it goes on, the Central Cascade Range has it all. The Flag Mountain Trail is a tremendous hiking trail in the neighborhood of ON the Edge Adventures, and you can hit the slopes at Mt. Hood Ski Bowl in the neighborhood. This river is so great.
