The wonderful Oconee County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight     on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The average South Carolina whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are very easy. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for   that around here. Briefly about the general area: Go for a hike on the Chattooga Trail; a good place like Oconee State Park is too great to leave out. Don't leave Nantahala Outdoor Center without first going for a hike along the Burrells Ford Trail. A journey to Tallulah Gorge State Park when you're here at Nantahala Outdoor Center is a glorious idea; during your spree here you'll meet some people from Mountain Rest for sure. The slopes of Scaly Mountain are so inviting noone can resist.
