The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. Since you're on this site you are probably     into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Cleveland. Briefly about the general area: Go for a hike on the Conasauga River Trail, and don't leave without visiting Hiwassee/Ocoee Scenic River State Park. A day at Parksville Beach close to Nantahala Outdoor Center is time well spent; you'll in all probability meet some folks from Ocoee here. This is a great river. If   you want a little side spree, try Sloan Gap, and a trip to Carden Spring will fill your spirit with good feelings. Don't leave Nantahala Outdoor Center without first paying a visit to Carden Spring. Nantahala Outdoor Center is a wet site that gets a large amount of precipitation. March is the wettest month with most rain; October is when it's the driest. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Nantahala Outdoor Center; the night is slightly chillier of course, regularly in the 60's.
