The starting location is a reasonable drive from Auburn, as you can see on the road map further down. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The From Lock 7 Dam section is one of a few paddling sections     in this river system. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. This is a very short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with not too many other places for that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Briefly about the general area: The friendly folks of Oswego like to hang out close by. Fair Haven Beach State Park is a glorious site to stretch your   legs a bit, and a day at Stevenson Beach is time well spent. This river is so perfect. When you're here at Oswego River it's always fun to stop by Battle Island State Park. High temperatures at Oswego River during the summer are in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows plunge down to the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Oswego River sink into the 10's. Oswego River is a good location of typical rainfall. Of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain; the driest of the months is February.
