  The put-in location is a short drive from Bangor, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The natural beauty of Maine and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. This section of Narramissic River in Hancock County is 16.3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with
    plenty of places for that. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all
set. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camp stove too.

Briefly about the general area:
A perfect beach close to Narramissic River is Bakeman Beach, and nearby you discover The Sand Bar
 
which is a good spot to stop at. There are nice locations to look at along the Blue Hill Trail, and a tour to Fort Point State Park revitalizes the soul. This is such a great river. Going for a hike on the Bald Mountain Trail is always a tremendous adventure. Holbrook Island Sanctuary State Park is a splendid place to go if you're at Narramissic River, and the fine people of East Orland like to hang out nearby. If you're looking for a beach near Narramissic River, we recommend Hales Beach. Throughout the summertime months at Narramissic River temperatures are typically in the 70's with night lows in the 50's.
