The beautiful scenery of Waldo County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Maine are easier than the national norm, so better not forget that rivers in this state are less demanding. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The campgrounds here at Marsh Stream are pretty good. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area   you'll find lots of paddling spots. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. Briefly about the general area: A day at pretty Billys Shore near Marsh Stream is a perfect thing to do. Places like Swan Lake State Park are great to visit, and you'll meet a lot of people from Frankfort here. This is a really good river. Moose Point State Park is a magnificent place to explore, and you can spend the day on the beach at Spragues Beach. Gotta ski! New Hermon Mountain is a nice place to do that. During the summertime months at Marsh Stream highs are mostly in the 70's.
