A very fun lazy river, floated down this many times as a child on inner tube. very clean :D Says Jason
The wonderful Vermont scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. The average Vermont whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so don't forget that rivers in this state are less demanding. No need to look hard for hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels |
fill up quick. The beautiful Green Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
| The starting location is a short drive from Bennington, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take | |
|
your time, so pack your camp stove.
Briefly about the general area: You without doubt should stop by Shaftsbury State Park since you're here at Battenkill River, and you could always explore Wilcox Hollow. Having
a delightful time in the Green Mountains is simple. Go for a hike on the Healing Springs Nature Trail, and there are plenty of people from Arlington here. This is such a fun river. Battenkill River is near Emerald Lake State
Park which is a gorgeous location; great hiking is available along the West Ridge Trail. Snow Valley has glorious slopes and a friendly staff.
