If you're coming from Hagerstown-Martinsburg it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further     down the page so you won’t get lost. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers   in this state are good for beginners. Briefly about the general area: A good place like Greenbrier State Park in the neighborhood of Potomac River is too splendid to leave out, and Jefferson Rock is an out of the ordinary place to go to while at Potomac River. Near Potomac River you discover Loudoun Valley which is a good spot to take a look at. On a great day at Potomac River you can take a hike along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail; The Point is reasonably close. While you're here at Potomac River you can take a hike along the Loudoun Heights Trail; lots of people from Harpers Ferry come here.
